Mustang Mach-E FAQ

1. Are there opportunities to test drive a Mustang Mach-E?

Ford EV Certified Dealers can provide customers with the opportunity to test drive the Mustang Mach-E in late 2020.

2. Is the Mustang Mach-E eligible for tax credits?

Mustang Mach-E customers may qualify for up to $7,500 in Federal Tax Credits. Depending on where you live and your personal tax situation, you may qualify for other tax incentives from your state or city for buying an electric vehicle. The Federal Tax Credit is a potential future tax savings.

3. What type of battery does the Mustang Mach-E have?

The Mustang Mach-E comes equipped with a state-of-the-art 68 kWh or 88 kWh usable capacity battery. These advanced batteries feature 288 lithium-ion cells in the standard-range version and 376 lithium-ion cells in the extended-range. The battery is located on the floor between the vehicle’s two axles, and is secured inside a waterproof battery case surrounded by crash-absorption protection. They are liquid-cooled to optimize performance in extreme weather and to improve charging times.

4. What are my options when it comes to battery and drivetrain?

Mustang Mach-E will offer the customer two battery choices to meet their performance needs — Standard Range and Extended Range — both available with a RWD or AWD drivetrain.

5. Is AWD on an electric vehicle any different than on a gas powered vehicle?

AWD (eAWD) in an electric vehicle creates a unique opportunity. It's not just a drive system to improve traction. Mustang Mach-E AWD models use a primary electric motor on the rear axle and a secondary electric motor on the front axle to boost performance. Torque can be applied to either axle at any time, so both motors can work together to provide powerful acceleration.

6. What does the SYNC4A® system on the Mustang Mach-E offer?

As a communications and entertainment system, SYNC4A® is a sleek and modern interface that uses machine learning to quickly learn drivers' preferences and gets better over time, thanks to advanced over-the-air updates. The 15.5 inch screen and adaptive dash card interface ditches complicated menus, making it easier to access features with touch, swipe and pinch controls that every smartphone user will be comfortable with.

7. What is Phone As A Key?

Phone As A Key (PAAK) is a new alternative to a traditional Intelligent Access key fob. With an eligible smartphone as a virtual key, PAAK provides similar capabilities, such as unlocking and locking the doors, opening the liftgate, turning the vehicle on and off remotely, as well as starting and driving the vehicle.1 2

8. Does the vehicle come with a charge cord?

All Ford Mustang Mach-Es come standard with the Ford Mobile Charger. This allows for the flexibility of charging your vehicle with a standard home outlet (120V), or charging faster using a 240V outlet that large appliances use. The 120V outlet is estimated to add an average range of 3 miles per charging hour, while the 240V adds an average of 21 miles per charging hour.3 4

9. Does Ford provide a permanent home charging solution?

The available Ford Connected Charge Station is wifi-enabled and can fully power your vehicle overnight while you sleep. This option can be purchased through your local Ford EV Certified Dealer or via FordParts.com later in 2020.

10. What are my charging options while I'm on the go?

Mustang Mach-E owners will have simple and easy charging access to the FordPass Charging Network, which offers over 13,500 charging stations.5

11. Can the batteries be recycled?

The batteries are recyclable. Ford will suggest recycling options for out-of-warranty batteries.

12. What happens if I run out of charge on the road?

Ford Roadside Assistance6 has you covered in the US for 5 years/60,000 miles (whichever comes first). You can choose where you would like to have your vehicle towed and recharged within 35 miles of your vehicle location: your home, a public charge station or an EV Certified Ford dealership. If beyond 35 miles, Ford will take you to the nearest available option.

13. What is the warranty on the Mustang Mach-E?

Our New Vehicle Limited Warranty will help give you peace of mind with the following:
Electric Vehicle Component Coverage: 8 years or 100,00 miles (whichever occurs first), with retention of 70% or more of the original High Voltage Battery capacity over that period.7
